Back at The Weather Channel

Nov 02, 2009

Two years in The Big Apple allowed Dave to work with some of the best producers and directors in the world, working with some of America’s most highly sought-after radio and TV networks.

After enduring a nerve-racking three-hour live audition, Kirwan was cast as a DJ on CBS Radio’s 92.3 K-Rock - home of legendary radio personality Howard Stern - which broadcasts to 20 million listeners.

The feat made him the first Australian DJ to have a radio show in New York.

Kirwan then went on to report nationally for American TV giant NBC, covering weather events for its Weather Plus digital network.

Then a role came up at satirical newspaper The Onion.

Kirwan beat a handful of American talent to be cast as the weatherman for the paper’s popular online CNN-style comedic videos and had to perfect the American accent.

Looking ahead, Kirwan is currently producing and directing a documentary on the secret lives of New Yorkers.
